Heritage Award

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

I write to let you know that St. Aidan along with Central Lutheran, Zion and St. Andrew's churches were awarded Moose Jaw Heritage awards yesterday for Heritage Advocacy and Education for our involvement with the Stained Glass Tour last August. This was presented at the Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce Citizen and Group of the Year awards luncheon. I congratulate and thank each of you who were involved in this tour and there were many of you who helped to make this a success. At St. Aidan this was truly a parish event!

Our wardens, Ross and Carla, asked me to attend and accept this award on behalf of you, the people of St. Aidan. It was a priviledge to represent you there. Brian Bell of the Moose Jaw Heritage Advisory Committee spoke about this tour and the excellent job the volunteers did of telling the stories of these windows both from a theological and a historical perspective. How awesome to hear publicly at a secular event of God at work in our community.

It was also very moving for me to be there amongst the refugee students from Central who were nominated for the Moose Jaw Group of the Year award. There were about 15 - 20 of them present and they were excited and proud. They were just beaming when they were called to the stage to receive their certificate of nomination. They did not win the award; it went to Habitat for Humanity, but that did not dampen their spirits. It was a great day for them!

We received a plaque today which I will put on display at the back of the church Sunday for you to look at. Congratulations again for evangelism and ministry well done!

Serving with you,
Deacon Arleen

We acknowledge that Jesus, the Lord of all, has called His Church to be a Church of all nations. With joy and in humility we gather on Treaty 4 Territory, the traditional lands of the Cree, Ojibwe, Saulteaux, Dakota, Lakota, Nakoda, and the homeland of the Métis Nation.
